Welcome to another edition of the Ave Maria University Weekly Recap, where we look back on the highlights of the past week’s campus events, including Holy Triduum, Easter Vigil, and Lacrosse!
Every year during the Holy Triduum, students who stay on campus have the opportunity to participate in Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Service, and Campus Ministry's Living Stations of the Cross. Between the community in town and the students who stay in Ave for Easter, attendance during the Triduum is exceptionally large. It is a beautiful way to reflect on the Passion of Our Lord leading into the Eastertide.
The Easter Vigil Mass at Ave Maria Parish is one of the most highly attended Masses of the year. Students, families, and alumni love coming together for this most important liturgy to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord and the Sacraments of Initiation for our Catechumens entering the Church. This year we had over 40 people enter the Church—Praise be to God!
The Gyrenes made history this week by beating Keiser University for the first time in seven years. When the final horn sounded, they rushed the field upon beating the Seahawks 16-13. The Gyrenes won the turnover battle—gaining four more than they gave up—scooped up more ground balls, and won more draws than their opponents. AMU Lacrosse now has a 5-4 record for the season and 2-1 in conference play, allowing them to hold third place in the SUN Conference. We cannot wait to see them continue with this momentum!
