AMU AND TI HOST CONFERENCE

Welcome to another edition of the Ave Maria University Weekly Recap, where we revisit the most exciting events from the past week on campus.

Aquinas Conference

This past weekend, the Aquinas Center for Theological Renewal at AMU and the Thomistic Institute of the Pontifical Faculty at the Dominican House of Studies invited papers for their co-sponsored conference on “Thomas Aquinas and the Eucharist: Pathways to Revival.” The conference took place on campus and drew upon St. Thomas for theological, spiritual, pastoral, and evangelical pathways in the Eucharistic Revival. Many of our esteemed professors of theology spoke at the conference, and students of AMU were privileged to attend this intellectually formative event!

Relationships Panel

This week, the Præcursores Verbi men's household sponsored a dual panel for men and women on the topic of relationships. Mrs. Lendman and Kara Johnson spoke to the women, while Dr. Lendman, Fr. Joseph, and Mattie Harte spoke to the men. The panel discussed various aspects of relationships, including how to approach them, different stages, appropriate behavior or courtship, and preparation for marriage. Our students love to hear from these holy men and women who they admire so much.

Vocations Fest

Campus Ministry hosted their Annual Vocations Fest this week! The Vocations Fest is a great opportunity for anyone thinking about a vocation to religious life, learning about missionary work, or just looking for a summer job in ministry. We can’t wait to see the connections that come from our students and these religious groups.

Women's Basketball

The AMU Women's Basketball team had their best shooting day of the season on Wednesday with an 82-73 victory over Warner University. It was an exciting game, but our Gyrenes maintained their lead with the help of Mary Smith and Gianna Santacroce playing major roles in the final score. Tomorrow they will play Keiser University, who are tied with our girls for first place. Good luck Gyrenes!

Men's Basketball

For the second time this season, the AMU Men's Basketball team beat the Warner Royals by two points in overtime. The game ended in a 92-90 victory after several comeback attempts from the Royals. With a three-point lead in overtime, AMU tied the game up with a rebound shot, and Jai White got a defensive rebound to win the game for the Gyrenes. Miles Monchecourt was the top scorer with 25 points, which included six three-pointers. It was an incredible game for the AMU Gyrenes, and we are ready to watch them play Keiser this weekend!
