Schedule and Locations

The IPT format was developed to accommodate students whose access to graduate studies in theology is restricted by job, family, or distance. Courses are offered in an intensive weekend format - Friday evening through Sunday afternoon one weekend per month, August through May for three years. The typical weekend schedule is as follows:

7:00 p.m. – 9:50 p.m.      Class

8:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.    Class
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Lunch
12:30 p.m. – 6:40 p.m.    Class

8:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.    Class
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Mass
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m     Lunch
1:00 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.      Class

The IPT offers classes in multiple areas around the country in order to serve the Church by reaching those who are unable to attend class on the main campus of Ave Maria University in Florida. These sites constitute the external programs of the IPT and offer all the same core courses as those on our home campus. Once a first year class is started at a particular location, the IPT guarantees that a full three year cycle of classes will be offered there until the class graduates. Prior to establishing an external program, the IPT assesses the local interest and feasibility of a particular site. Because the local bishop has the care of souls entrusted to him and is thus responsible for all religious education in his diocese (Code of Canon Law, 801-806), the IPT recognizes that a successful program must have his support and therefore seeks recognition from the local ordinary to offer its program.
