Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:

We look forward to working with you in the coming year and are dedicated to doing all we can to make the payment process as stress free as possible.  One sure way, and I can't stress this enough, is to take care of the financial aid process as early as you can.  Once you have all your aid and loans locked in, don't delay deciding how you will cover any shortfall; the earlier you decide the more options you will have.

The information on these pages is intended to assist you in better understanding the Student Financial Services Office, and to learn about fees and charges, payment options, refund schedules, and information concerning the student account.

The student is the recipient of the educational services provided by Ave Maria University. For this reason, we view the maintenance of the student account and the payment of fees as the student's responsibility. Federal law (specifically, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and our policies limit the information that we can provide to, and the direction we can take from, parents. Therefore, it is the student who must sign all agreements, initiate Parent Billing, or request a refund.

We want to cooperate with students and parents to the fullest extent possible, and we hope that students will discuss their financial matters with their parents as needed. Each student receives personal attention each time they contact the staff of the Student Financial Services Office, and is encouraged to seek help whenever needed.  We realize that it is often best if the parents are included in the discussions and decision process.  In order to comply with regulations, please complete and return the Authorization to Release Confidential Information Form.  Once received, we will be able to speak freely with the person(s) indicated on the form.

I URGE YOU TO READ THE STUDENT BILL, FEES & CHARGES, AND POLICIES SECTIONS VERY CAREFULLY. It is important that you have a clear understanding of this information.

Our professional staff is here to serve you. If you believe our financial services can be improved, I would appreciate your contacting me personally. If you feel that individual circumstances warrant exception from the published policies, you may direct such appeals to me in writing. Thank you.
